An alumnus of the prestigious National Defence Academy, Maj Gen Ajay Ohri, was commissioned into 2 KUMAON (BERAR) in June 1981, and has served for 37 illustrious years in the Indian Army.
Qualified on Technical Staff Officers Course, the officer had hands on experience in evaluation of military weapons and equipment from 1992 to 1995, in Trials Cell, The Infantry School, Mhow. The officer, in addition, has held very deserving assignments as:
- Director PMO F-INSAS, (Future Infantry Soldier as a System), where he was involved in selection and evaluation of weapons, ammunition & equipment for the Indian Army, and
- Additional Director General of Infantry at the Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence, where he meticulously handled procurement of weapons, ammunition & equipment for numerous projects of the Indian Army, as well as, was a part of the formulation of futuristic plans.
While in service, he had his share of soldiering in the Counter Insurgency Operations in Doda (J&K), OP PARAKARAM in Jaisalmer Sector and OP MEGHDOOT in Siachen Glacier and is, therefore, well conversant with the requirements of soldiers in all types of terrain.
